- By joining the Lee Honors College, you agree to meet the following requirements:Complete eighteen (18) credits of honors coursework; your honors advisor will help you select honors courses that also count in your major(s), minor(s), and WMU Essential Studies program (our goal is for the honors experience to enhance and not prolong your education); this honors credit requirement may be prorated based on previously earned college credit – please discuss with your honors advisor.
- Meet with your honors college advisor annually (transfer students must meet before the end of the drop-add period of their first semester).
- Attend four (4) honors sponsored events during your first year at WMU and two (2) during your second year; the LHC hosts over 150 events and programs throughout the year and last about one hour. Transfer students are only required to attend two (2) events their first year.
- Complete twenty (20) hours of community service each year until graduation.
- Maintain a cumulative WMU GPA of 3.5.
- Complete an honors thesis based on your individual research or creative scholarship.
- Pay an honors college program fee of $100 per fall and spring semester – all of which goes directly to enhancing the student experience (more here: wmich.edu/honors/fee) – that will be included on your university tuition statement.

However, accepting your invitation to join does commit you to the Lee Honors College for at least your first semester of enrollment should you choose to attend WMU.
